5-Day AT from Springer Mt. Georgia
Beginning at the Southern end of the Appalachain Trail on Springer Mt.. We hiked 50 miles north over mountains, through Gaps and with bears to Unicoi Gap in five days! Then 6 continued on to the North Carolina boarder, another 30 miles!
AT and Mt. Rogers hike
We're getting too good at this! 40 participants on the weekend, 13 mile overnight hike. Great weather and views!
Northern Tool Hot Dog Sale
Another great day to sell and eat hotdogs. Money from the sale went to troop gear, backpacking stoves for the upcoming hikes
Uwharrie Hike
This National Park has so much to offer, and we've only sctatched the surface. New scouts took to the warm weather and miles like pros!

20-Mile Hike
Dawn until Dusk! Snow on the ground. It was dark and below freezing when we began at 6:00 am. 11:30 am we'd cover 11 miles, stopped at the turn-around for hot chili and a break. The sun was out by then, temperatures in the 50's. The return trip was not phyical, it was mental. and by dusk it was over, dark and cold!
Challenge Campout
The Challenge Campout, formally the Survival Campout, began with a downpour. Set up shelters in the dark. Cooked breakfast eggs without utencils. Practiced survival skills;fire, edible pants, first aid, signaling, and water purification. Saturday dinner feast, 30 degree night in a leaf shelter and fun!
New River Bike Trail
46 grueling miles from Galax to Pulaski. Reality was ending in Draper, 4 miles less. Ahhh!!
New River Gorge
A 5 hour ride to the New River Gorge. The Troop put-in at Thurmond WV, population 6 (it was 7 in '03), and rafted 5 hours to the camp site Saturday evening. Sunday brought the REAL rapids. Class 3, 4 & 5. A bright sunny day and a great time
Summer Camp
We returned to Camp Durant this year during the Hottest & Dryest week of the summer! Cool showers and slushies from the Trading Post got us through the week!
Valentines Day Hike
Umstead State Park was the place to; Open the cards, eat the candy and hike in the woods with your sweatie!
